I’m the Register and Recorder for Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. I’ve worked in the office for thirty one years. Lawrence County is a fifth class county, population of 86,000 around about. We have a lot of rural areas, but our county seat is the city of Newcastle. As an elected official, I feel responsible for ensuring that technology is up to date in my office, and I wanna make it as easy as possible for my constituents to access online self-service options, and Neumo has just made that so easy and made it very possible to do these things.

Lawrence County is really ahead of the game. They really put the constituents first. They’re trying out different methods to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to submit, that they don’t have to come in person. They can do the eRecordings. And I think what that’s allowing is to reach a wider group of people than if we just did it by hand.

I actually started in 1994 as a microfilm clerk. We were so busy with making copies for people all day, and these big books that you see behind me, we would lift them and make copies for realtors and surveyors. We would have these long lists, and so much time was spent doing that, and now they have access to that at the click of a button. All of our records are currently on PDF/A and stored in three separate cloud locations. We no longer have any microfilm backups and everything’s available online the whole way back until 1849 as far as land records.

Most of our documents that we get are electronic. I would say a great deal actually come from out of state and that’s how they’re getting certified. And that process works the same way. We’re reviewing the chain of title, the description, the parcel number, and they’re being certified but just electronically instead of a physical stamp.

We’ve implemented Property Alert, which is a fraud protection tool for anyone who signs up. It’s free and they are notified anytime anything is filed against their property or the name that they list in the property alert. And people were very excited to have it, especially since it’s a free service. We have so many people signed up.

It just keeps growing and growing. Even the general public that just wants a copy of their deed, we’ve implemented the Cloud Search for the land records. We were actually the first county in Pennsylvania to implement that. We take pride in the system just as much as Neumo does, and we’re very thankful to have a company that realizes the importance of advancements. We ask for the newest and the greatest stuff for our constituents, and Neumo is always on board and trying to do that for us.
