Since we became automated, have our web capabilities, our electronic recording, the online searching, our foot traffic in the office has greatly reduced. I mean, it’s hard to even explain how much it’s been reduced. For comparison, before we had any of these processes, we had about twenty title searchers working in the office at any one time, and their demands on our staff were really great. So all those things, like, consumed our staff time.
The time spent doing other business of the office has reduced to the point that we can concentrate on our main focus, which is getting the new documents on record timely. And what we do is, we’re pretty proud of this, that our documents get recorded the same day, and in many cases, within minutes or maybe up to an hour after it’s been submitted to us. And they all stay in the proper order now because when someone’s submitting a document electronically, the time of that submission gets registered, and that is the next document to be obtained by one of the recorders. The conversion process from our old computer system to Neumo worked smoother than anybody could have ever predicted.
The company that we had previously had a reputation of making it hard for anyone to replicate that system and take the old data and images and put it into any new system. And we were just lucky that the people working at Neumo had a good grasp of conversions and made that process as smooth as possible. For instance, we had data that went back to the seventeen hundreds. So this originated on big old computer reels of tape, and when that was outdated, they converted it onto something else, and then converted it onto something else, and had it labeled recorder of deeds, index deeds, this year to that year. We found that data, put it into a regular Excel type of format. All that data was then imported into the Neumo system and magically indexed all those records. It saved us years of manually indexing.
Neumo not only has a really tremendous product that’s very varied and and configurable to what your needs in particular might be. But they have some great people that I’ve known for years and years, who I’ve come to depend on to help me with what I need to get done.
